Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES)

Testing Information
The State of Texas wants to ensure that each educator in public schools has the necessary content and professional knowledge to perform satisfactorily, so Texas law requires every person seeking educator certification to perform satisfactorily on a minimum of two comprehensive examinations. The new Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES) was developed in 2000 for this purpose.

West Houston Testing Center (WHTC) offers TExES as a computer administered tests (CATs).  CATs are given year round, except holidays through Educational Testing Services (ETS).

The test cost is US$120.00.  For more information on testing fees and payment policies, please visit http://www.texes.ets.org/texes/AboutTheTest

TExES testing session is about 5 hours and includes an unscheduled break, if needed, for a maximum of 15 minutes; however, timing for the test will continue during the break.

WHTC provides scratch paper, pencil, and 4 function calculator, if needed, that must be returned once the test is finished.  Test scores will be available at www.texes.ets.org within seven business days after the test date.

If you are unsuccessful on a test, you must wait 60 days to re-take the same test as a CAT.

Please report to the testing center 30 minutes before your assigned time.
